My Entrepreneurial Journey: Inspiring Lessons for Success

Becoming an entrepreneur isn’t just a job—it’s a journey filled with excitement, uncertainty, and growth. If you’re thinking about diving in, here’s what I’ve learned along the way:

  1. Don’t Fear Failure: Trust me, you will stumble. It’s all part of the process. Every entrepreneur will make mistakes and experience setbacks. The key is to not fear failure. Instead, view it as part of the learning process. Every misstep is an opportunity to grow and refine your approach.
    • Tip: When things don’t go as planned, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” and use it to propel yourself forward. Many successful businesses were born out of mistakes that led to innovation.
  2. Start Small, Dream Big: Everyone begins somewhere, often with a simple idea or a passion project. Don’t be discouraged if it feels small at first; it’s all about the big picture. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your business.
  3. Build Your Tribe: Find people who believe in you—mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, and friends. A strong support system is invaluable. They’ll offer advice, lift you up, and help you navigate the ups and downs.
    • Tip: Seek out communities, attend local business events, or join online entrepreneur groups. The journey is easier when you have people to share it with.
  4. Stay Committed, Even When It’s Tough: There will be days when everything feels overwhelming. Remember why you started and keep pushing forward. Your passion and commitment will carry you through the toughest times.
    • Tip: Create a vision board or write down your “why.” On difficult days, revisit it to remind yourself of the bigger picture.
  5. Use Digital Tools to Your Advantage: Blogging and social media are fantastic for sharing your story, connecting with others, and building your brand. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and let people know what you’re all about.
    • At Mutiara Heritage, we use blogging and Instagram to share our passion for Batik and ethical fashion. It’s not just about selling a product, but about connecting with our audience and sharing the rich cultural heritage behind our brand.
    • Tip: Don’t hesitate to put yourself out there! Start a blog, create social media accounts, and engage with your audience. Authenticity and consistency will help you build a strong online presence.
  6. Always Be Learning: The world of entrepreneurship is constantly changing, so be ready to learn and adapt. Stay curious, seek out new knowledge, and be open to change.

Starting your own business is no easy feat, but it’s incredibly rewarding. Embrace the journey, stay true to yourself, and keep moving forward.

Starting Mutiara Heritage has been a lifelong passion of mine. I only knew I wanted to grow up to be like my dad, a hardworking businessman. The first thing I remember him teaching me was “Failure is the key to success,” what’s funny is as much as it is such a cliche saying, it’s so true. It took me a long time to get there, I was paralyzed by the fear of losing control and failing. But the one thing that haunted me more than failure was regret. I didn’t want to look back and wonder, “What if?” That thought alone pushed me to keep going, even when things got tough.

More than that though, my mom believed in me and encouraged me to take a step. She was the one who introduced me to the world of crafts, she taught me how to sew, about fabrics and everything else. For years, I struggled with the fear of leaving my 9-to-5 job to pursue entrepreneurship. But during one of my trips home, my mom noticed my unhappiness and sat me down for a heart-to-heart. She knew how much I dreamed of being a business owner, “why not just start? Start small, baby steps, see where it takes you.” That conversation became the spark that ignited the journey to launching Mutiara Heritage.

So, here I am, owner of Bella’s Pet Service, a REALTOR, and  founder and CEO of Mutiara Heritage.

Looking back now, the decision to start my own business was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The journey has been filled with its ups and downs, but every step has brought me closer to living my dream.
